Our mission is connection: between people and animals, and between people and the natural world. Connection only counts if it includes everyone, so accessibility is part of how we build, not an afterthought.
Our digital commitment
We aim for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Practices we build with include:
- Semantic page structure with proper headings and landmarks for screen readers
- Keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators on every interactive element
- Text alternatives for meaningful images, including gallery captions written as descriptions
- Color contrast chosen for readability, with meaning never carried by color alone
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences: animations switch off when your device asks
- Forms with visible labels, clear error messages, and no time pressure
Accessibility is ongoing work. As we add features and content, we review them against these standards, and we fix issues when they're found.
Visiting in person
We want every guest to experience the animals comfortably. When you book an encounter or plan a field trip, tell us about any accessibility or accommodation needs in the booking form's accommodations field, and our team will plan the visit around them. Questions before booking are always welcome through our contact form.
Employment
We provide reasonable accommodations throughout the application, interview, and employment process. Requesting an accommodation never affects candidacy. See our careers page for our full equal opportunity statement.
Found a barrier? Tell us.
If any part of this website or our locations is difficult for you to use, we genuinely want to know. Reach us through the contact form and describe what happened and where. Reports like yours are how we get better.
